The speed and efficiency of transportation will obviously have a significant impact on lead times, so make sure any potential manufacturer has the necessary capabilities or partnerships to provide you with the service you need.

Where possible, consider sustainability and ‘green’ practices when it comes to shipping and logistics. Whether it’s biofuel-powered vehicles or the use of sustainable packaging, there are plenty of things that can be done to reduce the environmental impact of shipping and transportation.

Domestic or international?

Many companies opt for overseas manufacturers because costs can be lower and output can be increased – but this can often be at the expense of product quality and lead times. When you choose a domestic manufacturer, lead times are shorter, the environmental impact of transport is significantly lower, and it’s easier to communicate with a manufacturer in the same country.
