Supporting Circus Starr in the Community

Here at Tradedor, in addition to our dedication to providing trade clients across the country with leading garage door products, we’re also committed to giving back to local communities.

Throughout our operations, we’re always looking for ways to make a positive difference and this has seen us get involved with a number of charitable causes over the years.

Most recently, we’ve shown our backing for the children’s charity, Circus Starr. 

Ahead of Circus Starr’s 2024 tour, we donated 10 tickets to their Norwich show.

In this article, we’ll take a closer look at the great work Circus Starr do, while outlining why we decided to support this wonderful organisation.   

What is Circus Starr?

The circus can be a magical place for children, but for young people who are disabled, disadvantaged or have complex needs, the experience can be much different. 

In fact, research shows that more than 50% of children with disabilities feel isolated, stigmatised or discriminated against in these environments. Furthermore, 1.5 million families in the UK are unable to even afford a family day out. 

With all this in mind, Circus Starr is an organisation that brings the circus to these people, helping them enjoy the magical world of circus in a safe and comfortable setting. 

Families are able to enjoy all the fun of the circus, and put on hundreds of animal-free shows each year at venues across the country. Wherever possible these events take place outdoors, but during the winter months, they utilise buildings in local communities. 

The circus features a variety of acts including acrobats, dancers and, of course, a clown, with all of the performers having starred in some of the world’s most famous circuses. 

Their 2024 winter tour, which Tradedor has donated tickets for, gets underway in January, and will see the circus head to a number of locations in the country, including:

• 13th January 2024 – Norwich

• 16th January 2024 – Croydon (BSL)

• 20th January 2024 – Dartford (BSL)
• 21st January 2024 – Brighton (BSL)
• 23rd January 2024 – Dudley (BSL)
• 24th January 2024 – Walsall 
• 25th January 2024 – Telford
• 26th January 2024 – Llandudno (BSL)
• 27th January 2024 – Wakefield 
• 28th January 2024 – Stalybridge (BSL)
• 29th January 2024 – Burnley
• 31st January 2024 – Dundee
• 1st February 2024 – Glasgow 
• 2nd February 2024 – Edinburgh (BSL)

All events marked BSL will feature British Sign Language support.  

Believing that every child should be able to enjoy the wonders the circus has to offer, children with disabilities, families on low incomes or those who have faced unimaginable challenges such as bereavement, illness or domestic violence, are able to escape to the circus thanks to the great work of Circus Starr.  

Why Tradedor is supporting Circus Starr

As previously mentioned, here at Tradedor we always look to support local communities. As a company that provides services to people nationwide, we understand the importance of recognising and supporting organisations that make a difference, especially when times are tough. 

Circus Starr does invaluable work, and we’ve now supported their causes for more than five years. 

In addition to our support of Circus Starr, we’ll also be donating the proceeds of an internal Christmas jumper event here at Tradedor to local food banks later this year.
